The 2011 Renovation

During Autumn 2011 the church was closed for redecoration with the addition of new lighting.

It was a mammoth job and included the entire church having scaffolding from floor to ceiling.

 Decoration and Lighting 2011

The newly painted church

After many months of debate, consultation and heartache, a colour scheme was accepted and new lighting approved.

Following the Harvest Festival Service on 2nd October, the congregation worked hard to clear the church in readiness for the redecoration which was to commence on the following day.

The interior of the church was filled with scaffolding and the painters soon followed up to prepare and paint the ceiling. Work progressed rapidly, the new overhead lights were installed and up-lighters, an entirely new concept for the church, were added on each side of the nave.

During the 3 weeks that it took to complete the job services were held in the parish hall.  Everyone agreed that the transition went very smoothly and with very little inconvenience.

On Wednesday, 26th October 2011, a team of professional cleaners came into the church leaving it ready for members of the congregation to replace all the furniture that had been moved to the parish hall.

Services returned to normal on Sunday, 30th October 2011 in the clean, brightly lit and beautifully decorated church.
