In 1987 a number of pews were removed at the rear of the Church to create the Narthex which is divided from the main nave by a glass partition and doors. This was dedicated by the Bishop of Stockport the Rt. Revd. Frank R. Sargeant on 24th January 1988.

Continuing technology innovation was seen in the installation of an Induction Loop and Sound System in 1995 to enable the hard of hearing to take a more active part in the services.
